Patient FAQs

Is Dr. Neacsu a primary care physician?

No. At this time, Dr. Neacsu will work with you as a consultant in integrative and functional medicine, but not as a primary care doctor. She is always happy to discuss your case with your primary care physician as needed.

What are the fees?

The fee for your initial 90-minute consultation is $425, which includes time spent with Dr. Neacsu and an additional 45-60 minutes with a nutritionist. Follow-up appointment fees are $185 for a 40-minute consultation (in-person, over the phone, or via Skype).

Will my health insurance be accepted?

We are not able to work with health insurance mostly because a natural, holistic approach is not considered standard of care by them so typically our services are not fully covered. Unfortunately, most insurance companies only cover very short visits (5-10 minutes) with a healthcare provider. Working outside the insurance world offers however many benefits including being able to make the right decisions about testing and treatments and sometimes even lower prices than your deductible.

For this reason, we work with direct reimbursement. How does it work? You pay in full at the time of your appointment. At the end of the appointment we will give you a coded receipt and we will show you how to file with insurance. If your policy provides out of network coverage, you will receive reimbursement (check mailed to you) according to your policy, after you meet your deductible. We encourage our patients to check with their insurance for further details prior to the appointment.

We work with Medicare patients but is important to know that your appointment with us is counted as non- Medicare/ non- Medicaid covered service so patients are unable to receive reimbursement due to Medicare and Medicaid’s billing rules.

What types of payment are accepted?

We accept cash, credit cards, or checks for your appointment and testing fees. Regardless of your preferred form of payment, we do require a credit card on file.

When will I receive my test results?

Results will be provided as soon as possible, and then discussed during your next phone, Skype, or in-office consultation.

Are lab costs covered?

We utilize both insurance-reimbursed and specialty lab testing as part of your comprehensive treatment plan. We receive no financial benefit from the testing companies we recommend, so we remain 100% focused on what’s right for you. Because we have no relationship with testing companies, testing companies and paid directly by the patient. We choose the best and most cost-effective specialty testing available to keep costs down.

Results will be provided as soon as possible, and then discussed during your next phone, Skype, or in-office consultation.

Are there referral bonuses for patients?

Refer a friend and when he/she completes their new patient appointment, you both receive a $25 credit*.

*Credit can be used for in-clinic purchases only (not applicable for online store purchases).

How can I purchase vitamins and supplements?

MCIM has an in office and online supplement dispensary with trusted brands and formulations handpicked by your MCIM provider. We recommend our clinic supplements and online supplement store because we feel they are the safest and most effective products. We strive to keep our costs as low as possible, however, all prices are dictated by the supplement companies themselves.  You can stop by the office to purchase or you can access our online dispensary from the main page. As a MCIM patient you will benefit from a discount for each supplement bought.
We do receive a compensation from the time spent selecting, stocking and maintaining our in office and/or online store. You are not required to purchase supplements from MCIM. You are free to search for viable options elsewhere. In- office and online stores are provided as a convenience for our patients to easily find what has been recommended from a trusted source that offers fast shipping and exceptional customer service.

What are the office hours?

Our office is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00am – 5:00pm for in-person consultations and appointments. We are also available Wednesdays and Fridays for follow-up and/or supplemental consultative discussions, either by phone or over Skype.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We request a three-day notice to cancel or to reschedule an appointment, otherwise you will be charged a partial fee to cover the time the doctor spends preparing for your case and reviewing medical records. For an initial visit, this fee is $150; for follow-up appointments, this fee is $75.

If you need to reschedule, this is not a problem. Simply call our offices, and our staff would be happy to take care of this for you.
